Case IH 2294 Troubleshooting
The Case IH 2294 is a four-wheel drive or two-wheel drive row-crop tractor. This model was manufactured between 1984 and 1988. The components of IH 2294 powerline system: 504 cu.in (8.3 L) Case 504BDT six-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine and 3-speed power shift transmission with 12 forward and 3 revers gears.
The engine has a cylinder bore of 4.63" (117 mm), piston stroke of 5.0" (127 mm), rated power of 154 Hp (114.8 kW), and maximum torque of 637 Nm (471.8 lb-ft) at 1575 rpm. The maximum travel speed (forward and reverse) is 18.1 mph (29.2 kph) and 8.1 mph (12.2 kph).
The closed center hydraulic system used a piston pump with rated capacity of 23 gallons per minute (87 liters per minute). The hydraulic system pressure is 2250 psi (155 bar). The rear lift capacity is 6600 lbs (2995 kg) at 600mm behind pin. The 2WD models are equipped with 11.00x16 front tyres and 18.4x38 rear tyres. The 14.9x28 front tyres and 18.4x38 rear tyres fit 4WD tractors. The wheelbase is 104 inches (2640 mm).

Engine hard to start or doesn't start |
Air trapped in fuel system - Bleed air.

Engine shuts off while running |
Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature - Warm up the engine.
Fuel filter plugging - Replace filter element.
Air in the fuel pipes - Bleed the fuel pipes.
Damaged or dirty injection nozzles - Change fuel injection nozzles.
Incorrect adjustment of fuel injection pump timing - Set it up as required.
Engine stalls when idle |
Incorrectly set low idle speed - Adjust the low idle speed.
Fuel injection pump is defective - Repair or replace injection pump.
Defective fuel injectors - Replace fuel injectors.
Valve clearance is wrong - Check and adjust.

Dirty air cleaner - Replace air filter element.
Clogged or burnt injection nozzle - Check injection nozzles and replace if required.
Fuel injection pressure is incorrect - Correct the pressure settings.
Improper valve clearance - Correct valve clearance needs to be set.
Low idle speed setting is incorrect - Adjust low idle speed.
Fuel lines or hoses are clogged - Service fuel lines and hoses.
Blown cylinder head gasket - Cylinder-head gasket replacement required.

Engine overheated |
Lack of coolant in cooling system - Fill radiator to proper level and check components for faults.
Insufficient engine oil - Add oil to the engine crankcase.
Dirty radiator core or faulty radiator cap - Clean radiator or replace cap.
Damaged or worn fan belt - Fan belt must be replaced.
Engine is running overloaded - Load reducing is recommended.
Oil pressure is insufficient |
Engine oil insufficient - Fill crankcase to proper oil level.
Clogged oil filter - Clean or replace engine oil filter element.
Wrong oil viscosity - Drain crankcase and refill with correct oil.
Incorrect crankshaft bearing oil clearance - Bearings need to be reinstalled.
Defective oil pump - Remove and inspect oil pump.
Engine noises or knocks |
Engine oil level is low - Check oil level and add oil as required.
Engine is not preheated - Engine is not warmed up to the required temperature.
Timing of fuel injection pump is incorrect - Adjust fuel injection pump as required.
Incorrectly adjusted low idle speed - Correct the settings.
Clogged or defective injectors - Replace or clean fuel injectors.
Connecting rod is misaligned or defective - Need to change or align the connecting rod.
Worn or broken pistons - Replace the pistons.

Transmission fluid pressure is insufficient |
Lack of transmission fluid - Check and refill the transmission fluid.
Dirty transmission fluid filter element (if equipped) - Replace or service transmission fluid filter.
Defective relief valve - Replace valve as required.

Lack of transmission oil supply - Check and refill the transmission oil.
Transmission oil contamination - Fill up with fresh transmission oil.
Gears are damaged or backlash is incorrect - Adjust backlash properly or replace the gears.
Bearings are broken or worn - Bearings need to be replaced.
Damaged or worn gear shift forks - Replace the shift forks.
Shaft splines are worn or damaged - Shaft need to be replaced.

Defective hydraulic steering pump - Replace or repair steering pump.
Stuck or faulty steering pump control valve - Install a new flow control valve or clean it.

Battery cannot be charged |
Loose or corroded wire connections - Tighten or service connections.
Electrical terminal connectors are faulty - Change terminal connectors.
Battery failing - Install a new battery.
Loose or worn belt - Belt needs to be adjusted or changed.
Starter motor turns slow |
Low battery output - Low battery charging, charge as required.
Battery is draining quickly - Service charging system or change battery.
Disconnected wires or corroded battery terminals - Connect cables properly or replace terminals.
Starter does not work |
Battery is low or faulty - Recharge or change battery.
Battery wires are disconnected or incorrectly connected - Check wires and connect correctly.
Low battery power - Charge the battery.
Faulty starter motor - Starter should be replaced.
